Haley and Blake
Blake and I met in the winter and he proposed to me under the Christmas lights in downtown Omaha in the winter. Winter had turned out to be a pretty important time in our relationship, so we took a chance on the Nebraska winter and planned a wedding for January 2019. Our reception venue was the Durham Museum in Downtown Omaha. The museum was the former Union Station, a central hub train station in the midwest, built in the 1930s and known for its Art Deco architecture. We chose this venue to share the history of Omaha with our families and friends from all over the country and we knew the 60 foot ceilings would really make our guests say "WOW!" The wedding decor and feel drew inspiration from the Great Gatsby. The rich golds of the venue inspired us to choose black, ivory, and gold for our wedding colors with pops of rich greens in our florals. We really wanted to immerse our guests in another time, make them feel as though they were back in the 1930s when the Durham Museum would have been a central hub for travelers!
After an ice storm the day before, causing groomsman's planes to be rerouted and national news stories of planes sliding off Omaha's runways, our day went off without a hitch! Everything was perfect - from the shining sun to the snow on the ground. We couldn't have asked for a more perfect day.
