Amanda and Michael

I first saw Michael while walking through the kitchen in the Mystic Marriott Hotel & Spa during my first interview. He worked at the Steakhouse as a cook and I later got the job and began managing the front desk at the hotel. After a year of not-so-subtle hints he eventually asked me out, five years after that he asked me to marry him (again after a few years of not-so-subtle hints) and we married 10 months later. In May, we will celebrate 7 years together.

Newport, Rhode Island - We choose Newport, Rhode Island and the Atlantic Resort for a few very special reasons. My father works in construction and poured the concrete foundation for the Toner Memorial Bridge located on the Newport Navy Base which was dedicated in honor of my brother, Francis “Frankie” Lawrence Toner IV, who was killed in action overseas in 2009. He also poured the foundation for The Atlantic Resort and told me about the venue. Both foundations lead our love story to Newport. Newport was also the first place Michael and I went out of town together and has become our favorite getaway spot.

With regards to some of the details of our wedding - My maid of honor presented me with the beautiful charm in memory of my brother that we attached to my bouquet. The favors are cooking tools to represent Michael's love for cooking which thankfully made our paths cross, despite attending the same university for four years and never knowing one another.
